A Journey of Friendship and Growth: My Erasmus+ Volunteering Experience

For nearly 11 months, I embarked on a life-changing journey with the Erasmus+ volunteering project in Viljandi, Estonia, diving into the world of open youth work. Led by the ANK organization and guided by our coordinator Karolina, this long-term project became a significant chapter in my life.

Joined by the warm embrace of VANT (Viljandi Avatud Noortetuba) and under the supportive leadership of my manager, Ege Enok, I delved into activities aimed at fostering youth development, community engagement, and celebrating diversity. From fun games to interactive cooking classes, each activity was a testament to the power of teamwork and collaboration.

I also played football twice a week with Viljandi Tulevik’s former players, becoming part of their team and integrating into the community. Additionally, I represented Morocco three times at Viljandi Gymnasium, fostering cross-cultural understanding and friendship among teachers and students.

Throughout the journey, challenges came, from language barriers to tough weather conditions. However, with the support of teammates like Maarit, Rita, Sigrit, Tiina, Andri, and Merlin, we faced them head-on, emerging stronger together.

In the midst of this, I met Ahmed, a friend from Morocco. We explored Estonia, played football and shared many laughs. His friendship added something truly special to my time in Viljandi. and shared countless memories.

Reflecting on this journey, I am profoundly grateful for the personal and professional growth it has brought me. Not only did it enrich my personal life, but it also paved the way for a higher job position in my country.

This journey has been a testament to the transformative power of youth work, friendship, and the boundless possibilities that lie within.
